OUR STORY

The Office Hours Studio was created to address a critical gap in the Bay Area music ecosystem: while the Bay continues to shape global music, culture, sound, and independent artistry, the artists driving that influence are too often overlooked when it comes to access, investment, infrastructure, and long-term opportunity. In a region rich with raw talent but limited in accessible creative support for emerging adult artists, Office Hours was built to provide the resources, visibility, and community infrastructure needed for independent artists to grow sustainable careers without leaving the communities that shaped them.

Rooted in Oakland, Office Hours exists to keep creative opportunity within the Bay by providing artist residencies, studio access, performance platforms, collaborative development, and culturally grounded support systems for artists.

Meet the Team

  • Randy McPhly

    FOUNDER

    Randy McPhly is an Oakland-based artist and cultural organizer. Raised in East Palo Alto, Randy spent more than a decade cultivating nonprofit arts programming before pursuing his career as an artist in Los Angeles. After returning to the Bay Area, he founded Office Hours to address the lack of accessible support systems for independent artists.

  • Lauren Dyer

    CO-FOUNDER

    Lauren Dyer is a Stanford graduate and former marketing executive who built her career leading growth, creative strategy, and brand development across startups and consumer brands. She left the corporate world to help launch Office Hours, where she now applies her marketing and operations expertise to support independent artists.

  • SLGHTWRK

    MUSIC DIRECTOR, THE CLEAN UP CREW

    SLGHTWRK is a Bay Area producer, musician, and creative director with more than a decade of experience in the music industry. Known for his versatile production style and deep roots within Bay Area music culture, he has produced and collaborated with artists including Larry June, Symba, Prezi, John Mack, Paris Nights, and Mico Cocky.

    KEYS PLAYER, THE CLEAN UP CREW

    Count Monti is a producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and music creative known for his deep musicality and versatile work across hip-hop, R&B, and alternative music. A highly skilled keys player and music savant, he brings expertise in vocal production, music theory, live instrumentation, and production across platforms including Pro Tools, Ableton, FL Studio, Logic, MPC, and Reason.

    BASS PLAYER, THE CLEAN UP CREW

    ZaeTheIllest is a Bay Area producer, engineer, and bass player known for his signature West Coast sound and deep influence within Northern California hip-hop culture. Best known for producing the Bay Area anthem “Asshole” by Mike Sherm, Zae combines sharp production instincts with live bass instrumentation and synth work, bringing a musical depth and energy that can elevate any record into a standout track.
